If Discraft should make another mid…

Postby Spike » Fri Mar 30, 2012 5:56 am

They already got the best mids i.m.o, but if they should make another one, what would you like it to be?

The only small gap I see is between Wasp and Hornet. They are not very close. Apart from that… it’s a pretty solid line of mids!

Flx Drone
Z Hornet
(…gap…)
Z Wasp
Z Buzzz
Z Buzzz SS
Z Comet
Esp Meteor

(I don't count Hawk since I prefer premium plastic)

Would they need a small diameter mid? mm.. I don't think so.

I would like something between Wasp and Hornet (it would be a better compliment to Buzzz), and also Z Drone in standard production.

The D Drone fills that gap you're talking about.

p.s. don't be afraid to use base plastic mids

The Shockwave and Aftershock occupy that general territory between Buzzz and Hornet as well.

If I had to pick, I would want something on the overstable end of the spectrum too, but they don't really need it, nor do I. How about a putter in durable plastic with more stability and wind resistance than a Challenger, and less stability than a Zone? ESP or Z Ringers in production, or a beefy heavy Z Banger.... That would be nice. Maybe even and FLX Focus.

personally I think you guys are nuts. looking at the stability the gap is between the buzzz and the wasp, a stability of 1 not a stability of 1.7 or 1.8. I think there is not enough of a difference between the wasp and hornet. The biggest differences I see is are speed and speed sensitivity. The hornet is faster, and similar to a driver acts very different if you don't get it to its cruising speed. One thing I do like about the wasp is that it is less high speed stable.

I don't have a Buzzz SS but DC misses out in a mid like the Coyote and the Mako that are straighter than an X Buzzz but much less finicky than the Comet.
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

I may need to give wasp another try then, cause i found it just slightly different than
a buzzz

discraft made a 100 hundred for eric mccabe. he has let a few go. you're gonna have to hunt and pay $50+ for one.

The ESP bangers are pretty damn overstable. Do they still make those?

esp bangers were retired in the summer of 2010. discraft still makes soft bangers. soft bangers hold up better than the proD version.
