I recently lost my primary driver, a Nuke SS (172g), and have been struggling to decide what my next move should be. Right now I would consider myself on the low end of the intermediate spectrum, driving an average of 250-300ft. I picked up the Nuke SS after spending a long time using the Xpress as my primary driver. I am really attempting to work up to better drivers appropriately with a focus on technique improvement, hence my decision to go with the Nuke SS over the standard Nuke.
A recent surge of disc golf addiction led me to purchase a Blizzard Champ Katana (158g) & Blizzard Champ Boss (140g)as well, throwing common sense to the wind in an attempt to gain some distance & experiment with higher speed, lower weight drivers. The Katana has worked out relatively well, although neither of these two acquisitions has been as reliable as my Nuke SS. As sad as it was too lose my Nuke SS, I am now thinking it might be an opportunity to grow. I can definitely bomb the Katana most of the time, although I know it may not be technically the right fit for my skill.
I have been mulling over the idea of picking up a few new discs to see if any resonate with me. I would really appreciate your thoughts on my following options:
[Option 1] Forget about a new disc, focus on technique and use the Blizz Champ Katana/Boss (or maybe go back to the Xpress?)
[Option 2] Replace the Nuke SS (maybe a lighter one) & defer replacement until my technique improves
[Option 3] Move up to the Nuke
[Option 4] Pick up a slower driver to more closely match my skill, perhaps a Wraith or Teebird?
As much as I want to go out and buy all of the aforementioned discs, I'm really trying to keep it simple and focus on form.
