fighting a tailwind

Postby LuckyEagle405 » Sun Dec 02, 2012 7:04 pm

so iv been taught that a more overstable disc is preferred for throwing into a headwind, or a strong wing blowing from your left to right. is this accurate? and if so would an understable disc ideal for throwing a disc harder to right when there is a tailwind, or a wind blowing from my right to left. i throw rhbh.

Simple answer, yes. But it really depends on the situation and what you are trying to accomplish. Sometimes it'll go more understable into a wind and visa versa.

Great. I'm wanting to add one simply for shot selection.can you recommend a good understable driver for rhbh drives? And do you ever play will rogers or.dolese?

I'd say a pro or dx leopard is a great choice for that.

I don't get up there much over the past year or so since I don't work around OKC anymore, but get up there every once in a while.

Dx Leopard was my downwind driver for a while. Depending on the wind, I can throw both an A-SS and Archangel farther. My single longest throw was downwind with an Archangel, but I needed huge amounts of space. It covered lots of ground right before landing.

For me pretty much any understable drive will do. I have a blizzard Teedevil that without a tailwind it dumps I use. It crushes. I can get it out 420'+ pretty consistently...

Your best bet is to use a disc you could really never use without a tail wind because it will dump on you and hyzer flip it. That beast will sail for you with a tailwind.

I would say disc down (something slower) but it depends on the shot and what would happen if you overshoot the hole. That is speaking for a tailwind. left to right wind is a different story. I guess just throw something kinda flippy on a low line and at reduced power.
