Between putter and Buzzz

Hello all,

Looking for some recommendations for a disc to fill the void between my putters and my Buzzz. I guess I'll try to explain what I am looking for, and if anyone has any advice that would be awesome. Btw, this gap in my bag is most apparent in the 100-150 foot range.

I love the flight of my Challengers. They are nice and slow, and just kind of float until they run out of gas and stick right where they hit the ground. However, I've tried and tried and just can't stand how uncomfortable it is to throw a precision shot with a putter rim. Maybe it's my hands being the size of a ten year old girl's, but it feels terrible.

I love the Buzzz but for me it's too fast for this particular range. I've gotten used to powering it down but if I want to make a run at the basket 125' out the Buzzz likes to glide or skip way beyond the basket. So usually, I'm forced to layup short and let it dance around until it stops near the basket. I use it because its super comfortable compared to a putter, power or fork grip no prob.

So basically, does anyone have any recommendations for a disc that is slow and sticky like a putter but with a design that's beefier and easier to grip? Thanks in advance for anyone that responds!

I think you might be looking for a low profile putter, the ones that come to my mind at the moment are an XD or a Classic Roc.

Thanks much. That Pure looks pretty spot on as far as flight ratings go, and rim is just barely short of the Buzzz dimensions. And it comes in premium plastic, I hit too many trees and rocks to enjoy the DX plastic for more than a week or so.

I was the same way and the MVP ion was the answer for me.

Also change your grip for a putter. Use a climo control grip. This will help a ton.

I do, that's what I meant when I said fork grip. You are right though, it does help a ton but still feels uncomfortable to me and causes me to griplock like a mofo on deep putter rims. :/

I would recommend the XD/Classic Roc/Pure for this slot. I carry a classic roc myself, but I actually use it more as a midrange disc. But all three of these molds would fit the bill I think.

The Dart is another really good option and it's available in Star, Echostar, Champ, DX, and R Pro. The Dart probably molds up and holds up better in R-Pro than any other disc. The DX XDs and Classic Rocs I've seen lately have been molding up like poop.

The Pure is probably a good suggestion too but I've never bothered with them.

It's also a good idea to keep on practicing with your Challengers. These tweener putter/mids only cover a very small gap, and lead to some muddled disc selection and even more confusion when throwing "regular" putters. I've seen a lot of people with small hands rip traditional putters, so it's probably a mechanics issue, not the fact that your hands are too small or you "need" a low profile putter.

How could I forget about the dart?! I have an echo star in the closet that has been collecting dust for quite some time. Might have to put it in the bag and give it a whirl again.

I haven't thrown it yet but I found an Innova Wedge the other day that is really low profile and it says it's a putt and approach disc.

The wedge is rather understable, but could be ok for 100-150 distances. It feels kind of like a variation on a panther.
