all eagles will be EL's from now on... so stock up on true E's if you can...

and no, the EL's aren't marked EL, they just have an E on the bottom so it will actually take feeling/looking at the rim.

How will this affect your opinion of the Eagle as one of the most versatile?

I'm a little disappointed as I just realized the Eagle I picked up yesterday has a slightly convex section on the underside of the rim... Which means it's the EL version.

the EX always fades if flipped.

the EL is a lot more understable at high speeds and a lot less predictable at low speeds.

i would put the EL closer to a valkyrie, but possibly a bit flippier at high speeds.

How do you tell the difference if it doesn't have the code on it?

heh...

like you would any L mod. feel the edge of the rim. if there is a notch, it is an X mold, if it is smooth, it is an L mod.

discs that have L mods:
Eagle (unmarked, all new will be EL)
Teebird (pro TL, star TL)
Firebird (unmarked, pro FL)
Starfire (unmarked, pro SL, star SL, about 15% of champ)
Monster (unmarked, all new champ will be ML)

there wasn't one, but it was probably something like the EX flew too overstable in champ. i know the champ eagle was planned for discontinuation this year.

if they had cited redundancy i would have puked.

they claim that was the reason for the beast retool...
valk, viking, beast, orc...

yet now there's sidewinder, roadrunner, beast, el, valk which are a whole lot closer to each other than the viking/valk beast and orc.

I just started throwing an Eagle.

I am guessing by your discription it is an EL. When I throw it --- starts to the right straightens out long and a quick hard left at the end.

Tried it after your comments on the RoadRunner, find myself throwing this Eagle more and more.

The Eagle EL is probably as overstable as I can throw right now - how much dramatic of a change was the retool?

it's like a totally different disc.

in champ plastic it's more of a straight driver vs. the original being more of an overstable driver.

in dx plastic it's understable rather than being a stable driver.

i'm the dude you talked on the phone with today at gggt. do you think that other disc sellers online will take the time/know to successfully fish out the true dx eagles? anyways, it's a pitty because i feel Es are understable enough...
my plan is to use the ones i got till they're done. then think of a different mold to toss.
i guess this is how it goes...

anyways, i'll call around and see if anyone knows what i'm talking about... then try and get a little stack goin' on!
otherwise, hopefully i'll find a store on a road trip or get some at a tourney... or perhaps the dude in berkeley that fishes them out of the lake (WAY underrated course, btw)
