Final Thoughts on Bags

Postby Luckyg71 » Mon Jul 24, 2006 1:25 pm

So what are the conclusions on the Gateway Tour vs the Revolution Team bags? I think I am leaning toward the Gateway one. It seems to hold more discs, more storage, and is cheaper.

I play disc alot and got a revo almost 2 years ago I'm on my 2nd pair of quad shocks and the bag is still perfect. I am very rough on my bag and it is still holding strong. Never even seen the gateway one but it doesn't matter I don't think anything will ever beat the REVO! (especialy not for the price I paid  )

this is the kind of mentality i generally recommend against.

while objectively speaking, the revo bag is made of slightly higher quality material and has a "better" frame, that doesn't necessarily make it the right choice if it doesn't suit a person's needs/wants. being made out of different material doesn't add features, nor increase capacity, etc.

basically, the two bags being compared aren't perfect substitutes.

when i make a strong statement about a product, it's usually based upon experiences with most (if not all) of the competing products on the market in its class.

luckyg71: you may also want to consider the gorilla boy large bag if you are seeking to carry more than 14 discs.

Yes, but I would look at the Gateway G-shocks - they are cheaper.

I use a Player Bag with G-Shocks - very happy.

Did you find them on sale somewhere? I see them listed as $40 on Gateway's website which is the same price as I usually see online for Quad Shocks...

Also, the Player bag is listed for $90 on Gateway's site, and the Tour is $95. Did the Tour recently drop in price, or was there something that made you choose the Player over the Tour if the Tour (which I would assume to be a 'better' bag) is only $5 more?

The Players bag was in hand at the time of the purchase as were the G-shocks. No shipping and it pays to have a nice personality...

Thanks. I figured there had to be something. In-stock and free shipping make any deal sweeter! :)

I have an Innova Deluxe bag right now. Would the quadshocks fit well on it. Are they a pain to get on and off.

Lucky, that was the set up I just had.

It worked fine, but I can carry 6 more discs now.

GGGT has the player bag for $85 and the tour for $90. -$2 if you use my coupon code (GGGT-BT).

quads are worth it. the g-shock is more durable than phenix, but less comfortable.

This is a big decision, I hope I dont have to buy another bag for several years. I have one brand new Innova Deluxe bag, got it free from a friend and I have my old Innova Deluxe bag. The old one is ripping on the inside. I dont know which bag I want now, a revolution or a gateway.

Doesn't seem like an earth shattering decision what collection of cloth and stitching you keep your plastic in. On the other hand, if it is important to you to have the best and keep it for several years then what is a few bucks? The Revo bag costs a little more but is an unbeatable design and is proven to hold up to almost anything.

Shell out the few extra bucks and go for the best if the best is what you want, then you can move on to thinking about other trivialities instead.

one of his considerations was disc capacity, and it doesn't matter what it's made out of if it doesn't fit your needs.

there are times when a rusted out semi is a better fit than a solid gold pickup.

On revolutions site, you can order the team bag with the waist strap and new rollcage frame for only $75 as they knocked off 35%. If I had the cash right now, that would be my choice. Just something to think about.
