Not your ordinary Dyed Disc Question

Postby kvanorsdel » Wed Jul 26, 2006 2:55 pm

I have a question and maybe someone here will know the answer.

If I buy a dyed disc that still has the hot stamp on it and then remove the hot stamp will it mess up the dye job?

Basically will my taking off part of a hot stamp smear or mess with the tye dye or other dyed designs?

You're right. If you remove the hotstamp you will still faintly see where it was because the dye doesn't penetrate it. This can look cool on clear discs. As far as ruining the dye job you have nothing to worry about. It will not run or dillute.

you will see the stamp and if the dye (assuming rit dye not factory of course) can smear especially if it hasnt been set for at least 24 hours, best if you wait till the disc has seen some sun.

really? ive smeared a couple dye jobs taking the stamp off after dyeing, but have never smeared the dye on a factory dye. probably just has to do w/ the dye being set better.
