I have a standing rule that whenever I decide to put a disc into the bag, I immediately buy a sleeve of 'em (50) so I don't have to deal with the inevitable run differences in the future. In the case of these discs, there was only one run, so I instead saved myself the headache of having to procure backups on eBay. I've traded for a couple over the years, and been given a few by friends who knew that I threw 'em, and the next thing ya know, I had about 70, including the untouched original sleeve of 50. Now that I've permanently eschewed the Whippet-x for the Xtreme (they kinda flip-flopped for years), my cautiousness gives birth to a bonanza for Whippet lovers the 'net over.

Other HTF discs of which I have procured sleeves over the years:
Proline Gremlin
DX Gremlin
STAR Gremlin (actually, 4 sleeves on that one)
Proline Leopard
11x Teebird
11x Firebird
Z Xtreme
11x KC Aviar
and everything else in my bag, save for the ones where less than 50 specimens exist.

Call me a loony hoarder if you must, but I never have to deal with looking for a "2nd run flattop gummy light blue low PLH blahblahblah" if I lose or damage a disc in my bag.

It's really surprising how easy it is to amass a pile of a certain disc if you just kinda look out for them for a couple of years. I think I have like 80 CE/9x/10x/11x gummy eagles just from trading/picking them up when I find them over the years.

This is true. Of my discs of which I have purchased a sleeve, it is quite surprising how many of the sleeves are untouched.

When you say you buy a sleeve, do you mean that you contact the manufacturer and order 50 direct from the source?
