Don't get me wrong, I enjoy their music. It has a shoegaze feel with varied sounds and textures from more than just guitars, but the locals think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread.

srsly, you might have them confused with ghostland or trail of dead? wasn't really a full crowd last night. i don't follow music media but i've always gotten the impression that they were widely critically acclaimed. i dunno mang, that Greg Edwards guy has a following.

I actually meant Houston, because I r tarded. I knew three people from Houston that all loved Failure and Autolux, and I did think they were from there. AFAIK you're in Austin, and that confuzzled me.

That being said, they are from LA according to Wikipedia.

I remember you saying you knew a band that loved these guys. Now with that you're onto something... I'd guess that 75% of people who still list Failure as one of their favorite bands are in a band themselves.

Anyways last night we had a good hollerfest about which Austin bands/sounds we hate. We (as a city) disowned Fastball and Blue October. There's actually a ton of awful music here, with a strong undercurrent of good shit. Basically if you can hear the Austin in a band, they suck. With the exception of Spoon.

Autolux was amazing. The crowd was small and really into it. I know some people drove a long way for the show. The crowd would have been larger, but Pavement was in KC. I would not hesitate to see Autolux again.

Some dude in the bathroom: "That was greg, that was gred edwards! He is the greatest musician ever and I want to give him a hug. I met trent reznor and didn't want to hug him." He then went on to assert that Failure is the greatest band, ever.
