the house my cousin eventually ended up buying in 08 was owned by a massive umphrey's mcgee fan. i had never seen so many live vhs tapes of one band in one place before in my life. if i remember correctly, he had a some guitars that would have made me mega jealous in the 90s.

and this is coming from a guy that owned 30+ nirvana cds and one point. i had a copy of you know you're right 5-6 years before courtney love needed money and released it with a bunch of demos and bootlegs. nirvana closed a show at the aragon ballroom in chicago and called it autopilot . this was when you had to beg, buy, and trade for bootlegs and not just download them.

There are some serious umphreaks and mcgeeks out there that remind me of rabid Phish or Grateful Dead fans. I used to trade bootleg cassettes, VHS, and cd's out on the road. Those were the days....

Umphreys always brings it... except for one time when they didn't.. that was a weird show. I'll see them at Waka again this year.

I saw Umphreys at Bonnaroo in (I think) 2008. It was pretty badass.

I have serious doubts that Waters and Gilmour are going to be at Bonnaroo, especially when Roger is doing stadium tours of the Wall all summer. I have tickets in the first 20 rows (in the middle) at Yankee Stadium and I'm fucking stoked.

Oh, and did I mention that I saw TOOL last night in Camden, NJ? That was one of the most badass experiences I've ever had. They played some older shit too and it didn't sound like it collected any dust. Those guys have their shit together.

Only Phase 1 has been announced so far (two more phases to go to complete the lineup) but what I know the definites are that we'll be seeing are M83, Justice, and Mord Fustang. My girlfriend has been a couple times before but I haven't so I assume there are others on there that she has seen before and will want to catch again that we haven't discussed yet but for the most part we've got a shitload of research to do beforehand.
