We saw Alice in Chains in Oakland a couple weeks ago. It was super kick ass. Highly recommended.

They were here last week. The show sold out, or I would have gone.

I'm passing on STP. The ticket is a little steep for my price ($60), and I'm not a big enough fan to spend that kind of cash.

We saw STP last year in Sacramento, at the memorial auditorium...great venue, real intimate and up close with the band. Our tickets weren't that expensive, though, so a lot of yahoos came down from the foothills (some were kicked out for throwing beer at the band). Amazing how tight STP play together, these dudes are great musicians and performers. A flawless show, played just as well on stage as it was performed in the studio.

That being said, Alice in Chains is far closer to our personal preferred musical and cultural flavor. For me it was very special, I came of age during their reign, and it really brought back a ton of memories. At first we didn't know if it would be feeling a bit weird without Staley, but then the raw quality and emotion of the performance was so good that you come away actually feeling like it was the greatest tribute one could have made to his memory and spirit. Simply awesome, I'll never forget it.

I take your post as to be a curse. I did in fact end up next to a 14 year old girl. Im pretty sure she had no clue what was going on the entire time but would NOT STOP SCREAMING! I'd cover my ears and still hear the deafening shriek...10th row isn't bad until that happens. damn.
