Thanks for sharing Chuck.

I do have one question I have to ask though. Wouldn't the mountain have showed up on sonar? Is that why officers were disciplined, because of dereliction of duty? (okay 2 questions)

Because underwater mountains don't make noise, silly. Really though, we didn't cruise around blasting out active sonar all the time, which is the only way the mountain could be heard. Mostly we just navigated well and listened.
