Karma

I was wondering if any of you guys put any stock (so to speak) in karma? At first I did not but then when I thought about it, it really made all the sense in the world. I am also wondering if any of you guys live by some sort of philosophy. I know I do. Mine is live it up while you can because today might be your last day to do so.

I like doing the right thing when I know what that is.

Regardless of financial gain or loss, praise or scorn when you follow your conscience there's an underlying peace and pride that's far preferable to ignoring it.

When you think about it what makes you disregard your conscience? For me it's greed, laziness, apathy or selfishness. I've found these things to be counterproductive towards long lasting health and wellbeing. And while I don't always practice everything I preach I know what makes sense to me and to me doing the right thing always makes sense.

Same here. I could never get into the whole organized religious. I don't think you need to go to some building once a week to pray so some god. Then if you don't go god's gets pissed off. And really who abides by all those rules?? I think all of us here are guilty of coveting something. O well

I believe in a bastardized definition of karma. In other words, I don't believe in the original, religious definition, but I do believe that having a positive outlook on life and doing the right thing will net you better results than having a pessimistic, negative outlook and only looking out for #1 (yes, I realize the dichotomy).

I think that when you think and act a certain way, specifically the way that gets you "good karma," it will positively affect how you make decisions and how people react to you. Once you have that going for you, things will work out better for you as a whole.

I am not the least bit religious, but I was raised to understand right and wrong. Today's youth often have to ask "why?" They don't understand that sometimes you do things because they are the right thing to do.

Having said that, I believe there is something to the whole karma debate but not for the sake of some philosophy.

People that do the right thing have a more positive outlook on life which leads to more positive experiences, in other words, good things happen to them.

People that do not do the right thing (steal, lie, cheat..) often have negative perspectives of life. If you dwell on negativity, more negative experiences will follow, thus, bad things happen to them.
