So we all know Comcast blows and I just bought This modem for 29.99 to replace the shitty RCA modem comcast provides. Will I need to do anything to install this modem other than call comcast and give them my new MAC address?

Something like that. Call tech support and tell them you got a new modem from the store and that you need it provisioned. They'll know what to do.

I finally got my shit together and have the new modem in hand. Bob, after I tell them I need the modem provisioned they will take care of stuff on their end and my modem will work? Please fill me in on any extra information I may need cuz I'm a huge noob but I'm straight fending for some xbl.

Yes. I would hook the modem straight to a computer while you're on the phone just to eliminate anything else that might hinder getting online. Don't let them off the phone until you're surfing.
