Odd town names

Postby roadkill » Tue Dec 05, 2006 6:03 pm

I live in Lancaster, PA not only is this the hometown of the only dethroned tour de france champion it is also home to a number of oddly named small towns. I wanted to know if you guys have any names of places that are a little off the wall.
In Lancaster county we have:
Bird in hand, PA
Blue Ball, PA
Paradise, PA
and of course everyone's favorite:
Intercourse, PA

Like the t-shirt says "Virginia may be for lovers but Pennsylvania has Intercourse"

I work in Nevada, IA. They pronounce it "na VEY dah."

There's also Madrid, IA (which apparently has a decent disc golf course) but the ephasis is on the first syllable "MAH drid."

My grandparents use to live in Carefree, AZ.

I used to live in Flat Rock, Michigan.

And I still have never thrown a Roc. I've thrown some flat Wasps though. :)
