The hype around this guy is crazy. And the thing is, as with most pichers coming up from the minors, he's going to have a steller season when they call him up. It'll take a few years to really see if he's as good as everyone's saying.

As a cubs fan, all I can say is Mark Prior and Kerry Wood (at least he had a good stint from the bullpen)

With a $1500 roc, you could at least take it off the wall and throw it if you wanted. I suppose you could always take this and stick it in your spokes to make your bike sound like a motorcycle....

We were hardcore and used pop cans....then again we were always buying new tires...

Back on topic, maybe my Randy Johnson or Gary Sheffield rookie cards will be as much as this card someday...

He's as good as everyone says. I saw him pitch last year at TCU when San Diego St. came to town. Filthy filthy filthy. He was hitting 99 on the scoreboard radar gun in the 5th (it maxed at 99), and I overheard a few scouts at the game say they clocked him at 100+ a couple times. Only walked one hitter the whole game if I remember right. Strasburg was making those college hitters look like they were swinging in slow-motion.

But you don't have to take my word for it. Read these. I think the only thing holding him back will be the team he was drafted by. Although, less pressure on a young pitcher is a good thing. Washington is not exactly the pressure cooker of NY or Boston.

I see a big time career ending injury before he has any real productivity in the MLB.

How pissed would that person buying the card be? Value of $16,000+ to $5 overnight. Ouch.

DGDave, I too am a Cubbie and feel your pain. You live in OK...how'd you end up rooting for the Cubbies? At least I have the excuse that I live in Iowa

I was raised on the cubs. My dad got into them because one day he wanted to watch a game and the cubs were on. They ended up killing the team they were playing so my dad stuck with them. Then he passed that on to me.

That's cool. I just ended up cheering for them since we would go to the Iowa Cubs games all the time when I was a kid. I still go, and it's still a good time. I've seen pretty much every major prospect who's come through AAA since the early 90s. My favorites? Hector Villanueva (remember him?) and The Riot. I love to watch him play :)

Edit: Every Cubs prospect that is.
