Timko, I'm impressed... I didn't think anybody would know who he is. I've seen them both twice in San Diego at SOMA, but I don't think Tom is still with them. I still WISH I was Omar though, man that guy can play. Him and Jim Ward should get back together and do some studio work.

I got into TMV last September. A friend talked me into going to see them. I really liked At the Drive in back in my college days, but never got into Volta. That being said, after seeing them live, I got all their albums, and have at least one of them in my iPhone rotation at all times (Amputecture, Bedlam, and De-loused at the moment).

Pridgen is a beast. I grew up really liking jazz rock drumming (Jimmy Chamberlin of the Smashing Pumpkins is and will always be my personal favorite). But the way Thomas just destroys a drum kit is like no one else I've ever heard.

Yeah, I like Sparta better than Mars Volta... MV only has two good albums IMHO, but Sparta was good up until their forever hiatus. I just thought Omar was more obscure than Jim.

This is like the third time that this has come up on this board.

And its clearly ATDI > Sparta > TMV > the band that sings "Fireflies".

In terms of technical musical ability, its TMV > ATDI > Sparta, but that has little to do with writing good music.
