Need to scout out some good grub... stuff the locals know, but would go unnoticed to the casual tourist...

The Columbia in Ybor City (old Tampa) is really great. It's really famous and a little pricey (mostly Cuban/Spanish cuisine), but way worth it. Last time I was there I had almond encrusted Snapper with fried eggplant and bacon wrapped prawns all in some type gravy/sauce that was to die for. That was honestly the best food I've ever had in a restaraunt. Are you coming to Pinellas County (Clearwater/St. Pete)? If so, I can give you some more ideas.

I used to live in the Sarasota area and highly recommend Captain Eddies seafood in Nokomis. I can personally attest to the high quality and cleanliness of the restaurant (used to cook there.) If you want to try some different things from the menu the stone crab claws and grouper cheeks are both excellent. Gator tail bites are great also. The smoked fish dip is made from marlin and is one of the best apps.

Halfway between Cliff and the disc golf store, I've been there a couple times and it's quite good. If you like BBQ there's a Smokey Bones about 4 minutes from the course, really good food there. Get the doughnuts for dessert.
