Vacuum Cleaner

Hiya,

I know this isn't the coolest topic but my vacuum cleaner went up some time ago and my place is getting pretty gross. Looking for a moderately priced (~$200) vacuum that works well on both hard floors and carpet. I have a short haired cat so it will need to handle pet hair well.

Any clean freaks out there with strong opinions regarding vacuum cleaners? Thanks!

When I lived in cleveland appliance repair shops were the place to go for the best appliance advice. They can tell you what comes in for repair the most and what doesn't. Repairmen may not be the perfect source, but they have to be more truthful than the big box store salespeople looking to make a commission.

Check into Consumer Reports. I have to go to the library to look at a copy, but I trust their reviews and methods. My Oreck works well enough, but with three cats and a dog, there's really no catching up.

I recently got a Dirt Devil Featherlite at the recommendation of a local vacuum Io shop guy who said they are "better than a dyson" and lemme tell you this thing sucks the shit out of some carpet, its almost hard to push cuz the suction is so savage, it does take bags which is shitty but otherwise its pretty cash, my floor has never been cleaner and this thing was cheap as hell

My Shark is the first vacuum I have had where after I vacuum I can rub my hand on the carpet and NOT find more of candy's hair embedded.
