Music: What have you been listening to lately?

Postby Mr. Merchant » Wed Apr 18, 2007 12:24 am

For me music is an important part of life and I think it applys to disc golf quite well, I am just curious what everyones current flavor or mood of music has been lately? Discover something new recently? Please share whatever you are into, just please leave out pop top 40 radio stuff , getting stuck in that rut won't broaden horizions or help your journey.

I am always trying to push my progression with music and not get stuck in a rut listening to the same bands, producers, vocalists and mcs. Always trying to find variety and new flavors even in the same genre of music.

I have been on a huge kick of soul influenced music of all kind, be it hip hop, drum and bass, straight soul music, dub step or house. Classy , jazzy, soulful beats have been doing it for me lately. There has been lots of new music coming out thats real fresh with a 70s flavor, been loving it. Dubwise music in general (dubwise means having a slight dub reggae influence) has been something else I have been loving, especialy the variety with break beats like dnb and dubstep. I haven't listened to a band in a while, the newest bloc party cd was the last album from a band I got and I was really dissapointed. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Any other lovers of quality dance music (house, techno, minimal, dubstep, drum and bass/jungle) or hip hop? Anyone make music, play in a band or dj? I dj and have been dabling in production on the good old computer but I am just starting my journey into making tunes.

I want to hear what my fellow disc golfers have to say.

Femi ain't half bad either.

Has anyone listened to TV on the Radio? Their album "Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes" is amazing. Quite different than most anything else I've ever listened to but, in my opinion, is arguably the most compelling album of 2004, and perhaps of the century--which is admittedly still new.

Living Legends do have some sweet beats and lyrics....
....THE EXPENDABLES.... if you dig the Sublime sound as many do you should check this band out from Santa Cruz, CA (DeLaveaga). they got them self some jams. "Open Container" is my fav. CD.

Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Sizzla, groundation, Dub Congress, Eek a Mouse, Antony B, Don Carlos, and LBDA have all been getting quite a bit of play. Reggae-ish has been dominating my sound waves.
