Apple G4 MAC

Postby Glock23 » Wed May 09, 2007 9:12 am

So I am picking up a used G4 tomorrow for $70. It is going to be used for burning dvd's, music, internet, ect. This is my first MAC, so I don't know what to expect. Any reccomended upgrades or improvements? It has 10gb hard drive, 450mb ram, DVD rom and AGP graphics card with dual outputs (standard vga and DVI). I am going to need a bigger hard drive I know, but for the price I thought it was okay.

If you decided you don't want it, you can send it my way. My powerbook would love an older brother.

Or any other Linux, for that matter. ;)

But hey...even if you keep the Mac OS; at least it's not Windows! :P

I wasn't aware there was a PPC Ubuntu install.

Mac OS is like being feed baby food as an adult.

I've got some nice sites that I get dvd's and music from for free. Shoot me a pm and I'll give you the info, unless you already know where to get them.

What would you guys reccomend for upgrading the ram and hard drive? Do the G4s use the same components as a PC???? If anyone has a link to a good web site for deals, please hit me up with the link. Thanks for all the help!

Newegg is the best place to get computer stuff for mac or pc. I'm not sure about compatibility, because all I have are pc's.

Alright, another question. I had been using dvd shrink, and dvd decrypter to burn DVDs on my PC. What is a good program to use for the MAC???
