need help with building html table

Postby domromer » Tue Oct 23, 2007 8:24 pm

I need to make a cell larger. Where would I add the table tag attribute so I can change a singe cell size?

Depends on how much larger it needs to be, and if it needs to overlap other cells in doing so.

To just make the cell larger, you can just use the width and height attributes, like so:

Code: Select all
<td width=10 height=20>stuff</td>

To cause it to get bigger, without making the rest of the table move around you'd want to make it overlap other cells using either the rowspan (if it needs to be taller than one cell) or colspan (if it needs to be wider than one cell) attributes, to say how many rows or columns to replace with the added section, like so:

Code: Select all
<td colspan=2 rowspan=2>stuff</td>

would make a cell that's 2 rows and 2 columns (so, 4 normal cells) big.
