Canon GL2 miniDV camcorder for sale

Postby Blake_T » Mon Jun 23, 2008 12:33 am

in need of some cash... so i'm selling 1 of the 3 camcorders i bought for my video shoot. this is the best of my 3 cameras.

for sale is a canon GL2 3ccd mini dv camcorder. basically the industry standard prosumer vid cam. doubles as a digital camera and does stills to either SD card or 5 seconds of mini dv tape. this is a really nice camera.

tons of features including interlaced or non-interlaced shooting and selectable FPS from 30 to 2000. would be great for shooting video of your throwing form or of pros or make your own "fun" movies :P shoots fake widescreen or standard width picture with very good image and color quality.

full info is available here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contr ... delid=7512

mine is in good used condition. the only flaw is that for some reason the 1/8" mic input only records mono (editing software can easily bounce that to both channels) or stereo recording is available from the onboard mic or using canon's hot shoe mic adapter or you could even spend money to get it fixed.

it would include:
the camera
lens cap
lens hood
UV filter
polarizing filter (a must for getting clarity outdoors on long distance shots)
remote control
2 8 hour batteries
camera bag
3rd party battery charger
5 new mini DV tapes

new ones still sell for $2000+
asking $900 obo.

please call, email, or PM with any questions

Hi, Blake -

I've always gotten mono through the mic input on my gl2, so I'm not sure if that's a problem or just the way it is. I just fix that after capture, as you point out.

I'm looking to pick up a second rig myself but wasn't expecting to get a second gl2. I'll keep this in mind and maybe convince myself this is the direction to go in...I've been looking at several of the Panasonic models from a few years ago, nice 3 chippers but not as pricey as the Canon line.

Hope all is well.

Joe,

feel free to make me an offer.

i also have a wireless lapel mic & receiver i could probably toss in to sweeten the deal. i may have some other accessories that i can't recall offhand that i could probably cut a deal on as well. i have a tiffin harness thing steady shot? hehe.

i also have a GL1 i'd consider parting with in place of the GL2 but i was planning on keeping that for my own use (although i could use either one).

supposedly the mic input on the GL2 is supposed to do dual mono if you use a mono mic. not really sure, just know that my GL1 input records dual mono.
