Jump putting.

It says you have to have 1 supporting point touching on release. How does a jump-putt qualify? Aren't both feet in the air on release??

Also, when talking about putting inside 10m. If you jump straight up and come straight down (do not cross the invisible line) is that legal?

With few exceptions, video evidence has shown that players who jump putt release the disc before their plant foot leaves the ground. In the few cases where the release timing is questionable, it's too close to call a foul in real time.

Yes, you can jump vertically within 10m as long as you release before leaving the ground and land behind your mark.

HA! You wish. I do not think I am coordinated enough to jump then throw in the air. Ozzie Smith, I am not (could not think of a good Cub player to reference for you).

Me and KK are trying to get a better understanding of rules before the tournament.

We have seen a lot of "over the line" putts in league lately as well as some teebox violations ( i think you would agree). We are trying to get a grasp on how far we need to go on rule compliance.

In a perfect world we would not have to worry about it, but there are many different players at different skill levels. Some a pretty good players who know the rules but like to bend them a little bit. I do not think it is really impacting their scores but we have to draw the line somewhere.

Any thoughts, BIF?

gotta agree on the coordination, I don't jump putt because I don't have the energy!

I brought up the rules with kk because I know of several "younger" players who plan on playing in the tourney don't use the tee boxes at all.

As far as putting, I have been reading on the pdga forums and most like the 10M painted out, but it also comes up to something like 18 miles of painting? I suggest a 10M rope, if any questions on distance, pull the rope.
And I believe you are referring to the "walking putts" that occur, or is it the lack of marking lies properly? both are a concern and should be addressed at the players meeting along with courtesy and courtesy violations.

If my math is right, the circumference, c, of the putting circle would be:

c = 2 * pi * radius

c = 2 * pi * 10m

c = 62.83 meters

For 18 holes, 18 * 62.83 = 1130.97m.

1130.97 meters = 0.703 miles.

Correct me or my math if I'm wrong (and it's been known to happen ).

This may be cost prohibitive, but probably no more so than a rope on every hole. The problem is that you would have to redo it for every tourney, whereas you could just take in ropes and re-distribute them for every tourney.
