Well, you can't play in a tournament barefooted, so maybe this is the answer for those people who like to play barefooted and want to play in a tournament.

I agree. They look like something you might wear on Holloween, but thats it.

I love walking around barefoot when I can. I'd definately rock a pair of these. Have you seen the brochure? They sponsored runners in the Boston Marathon. The runners really have to start of slow, like runa mile or two to start off and progress from there... they also say it feels more natural.

sole is razor siped to enhance grip

Wow! Shoes (slippers?) with siping! I should have expected that it would happen some day I guess.

I wouldn't call my self a sneaker connoisseur or a shoe collector. But I love shoes and shoe technology. I am a wear tester for a major shoe company and I have over 200 pairs of shoes and counting. I don't have a pair of these but, I almost bought them when they first came out. These shoes follow a movement to create shoes that mimic walking or running barefoot. There have been many articles written about how shoes wreck our feet with every step we take and how our feet our trying to evolve to running and walking with shoes on. Basically when we walk or run with shoes on, our foot never strikes the ground in a natural way. This may cause various foot problems like fallen arches and plantar fasciitis.

Here is an interesting article from New York Magazine.

Thanks for the article link. Interesting read.

By the way I do think these FiveFingers shoes are pretty interesting, but I don't see them holding up to the rigors of teeshots on concrete pads. Even the extra tread on a regular athletic shoe tends to wear through quickly from disc golf drives.

Dude, I want your job. Seriously, give it to me. My wife complains about my collection of 3 dozen or so...

I actually don't get paid to be a wear tester. I just wear the shoes for a couple of weeks, fill out some paperwork, and then send the shoes back for analysis. It's a pretty cool side gig.
