Alittle fun this morning

Postby Thatdirtykid » Fri Aug 04, 2006 2:58 pm

So I had a good morning for disc golf, it was alittle windy and I was playing fairly well, hit metal on 3 of 27 holes, on my walk home (about 4 blocks from the school course) I walk through my choice practice field. If I throw from the parking lot its 100' to the back of the endzone for the football field. I decided to use the 15mph tailwind and throw some D competition style drives w/ my x step(still cant harness the power of the 360, but I will someday). I belive I threw my longest drive yet today. DX teebird 15' past the oppisite end of the football field. Usually my best drives (avengers) land in the end zone (about 450'). that 15' past the end means I threw an estimated (within 10 ft give or take) 475' which I have to say would be my current best to date. The teebirds needed more height but thrown anny (I usually hyzerflip, but the left to right tailwind pushed my hyzerflips down alittle before they flipped losing some elevation) they cought the wind and flew the length of the field in the high speed turn. I was able to get 3 of 4 teebird throws to the oppisite end zone, 2 of 4 past I was just excited, thats my first glimpse of reaching 500' :-D

believe me i am very happy to be able to throw 400' (very happy), and will be content if I never gain any more consistancy at distances greater than 400 (It usually takes me 4 or 5 throws to break 430'
one of my friends kids recently placed high in the JR long drive comp at am worlds, he threw 470 something... hes 17 or 18 and my size, and his golf game isnt to consistant, but damn thats still great. It took ideal wind for me to throw over 470, and he did that in the swirling wind they were dealing w/

Last Saturday I threw a 278' ace. It was a skipper with a world doubles Orc, not that lengthy of a drive but definately a long ace....500' would be so sick!

My range is only about 200 feet or so to have any accuracy, but I have been laying my avengers by the basket consistently; I'll get out to a field that is marked to throw my max range shots, but at 300 ft I lose all aim and get erratic. Thinking of getting rid of my wraiths/surges/solfs, and just carry 5 avengers and 2 cyclones.

I'm amazed at how my x avengers have held up. They look beat to hell but still have some great overstability for great finishes.
