I'd like to see subSilver as an option when you guys can get around to it. This "subSilver2" is ugly. :(

subsilver is not supported in version 3.0.x. Subsilver2 is the recommended alternative.

Hmmm. I don't think I like it. The old one was easier to read and more space efficient. This one is all boxy and cluttered like most other forums.

On the positive side, the thing I liked least about the old forum was its search function. I like that the new one allows you to use quotes to search for multiple words in a required order (like "Discraft Flick", instead of any instances of Discraft or Flick). However, it looks like only posts from the last few days appear in searches. Will anything from the old board get indexed? Also. I noticed a few search errors. For example I know this post from today http://www.discgolfreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9311 contains the word "league" but a search for the word "league" says no posts were found. Weird.

Overall though, I have to say THANKS! There's very little fun or rewarding about maintaining or moderating a forum. So I say do whatever makes it easier to manage, and thanks for all the work you put in!

if my memory serves correctly. The search feature takes a while to propagate the database. I should update within a few days. 122k posts is alot :)

cool, thanks -- and yeah it's probably a better default as the change is less jarring.

for people who don't like the new default "subsilver2," you can change the theme yourself to the snazzy phpbb2 default "prosilver" :

  1. click the "user control panel" link near the top of the page
  2. go to "board preferences"
  3. change "my board style" to prosilver (or whatever... right now there are just the two options)
  4. click submit

there are some other nice options in there as well, such as the ability to turn off signatures. 8)

There's also a message limit on the number of messages in your outbox. If your outbox is at 150 messages, then the message you tried to send last will not be sent and will appear as a new message until you clear some space in your outbox. You can change the settings to delete oldest messages automatically in your control panel so that you don't have to worry about it again. The old forum did this for you.

It's also possible the person deleted it from their outbox.
