Disc dyeing video tutorial

For those of you interested in getting your, uh, fingers wet with disc dyeing, Chuck and I collaborated on a little video presentation here. This is just the basics of doing a straightforward dip dye, most of which has been touched on in other threads. We thought some of you guys might like to see the process in action though.

It would be nice if you guys could post some links to what you would consider quality materials. I have just used what seems to be shelf liner. I have never been able to find the transfer paper. Any help there?

Glad you guys are finding some of it helpful.

SkaBob - It's just rit and water. I for one would NOT recommend using acetone around the stove, especially if you have a gas range. We claim no responsibility for any experiments you might try at home! I believe each of those mixtures was one full package of Rit and I dunno, maybe a quart of water? Maybe less? So yeah, super concentrated, and totally reusable.

jnecessary - search under "application tape" and you should find what you're looking for. This is just one sign shop that came up: http://www.signsupply.com/Vinyl/Ap_Tape/Ap_Tape.asp Chuck can probably tell you more, but I believe he just got the most basic kind of tape.

Really, I recommend simply visiting the sign supply shop nearest you, if possible. Hopefully someone nice works there who's willing to show you some intermediate grade 3M vinyl, medium-tack 3 or 4" transferite tape, and their xacto selection. Perhaps they have scrap rolls for sale for like a buck apiece, like the place in Seattle does.

Hmmm, I tried searching a little for pictures of rolls of tape, but I failed to come up with anything, except the fact that the online vendors charge nearly twice as much as what I have to pay for tape...

I need to get me the transfer tape, I'm a on disc cutter. Which at times is very scary lol.

When I was in Thailand, I picked up one of those squeegees at the signage show I was exhibiting at. 30 baht. w00t for cheap stuff. Anyway, I'm gonna start doing some more dying here and I think I need to start cutting off disc and use this transfer tape.
