I agree. I like the simplicity of it. It doesn't bog down with overdrawn explanations and technical details. Not to say it's not detailed, it's just not to the point where I'm saying "Shut up and throw." I do think there is a fine balance between explanation and showing examples. I think the video does a good job showing what needs to be done, getting to the nitty-gritty of things.

Blake, why you insist on not doing instructional video leaves me shaking my head.

I believe Blake has/had a lot of video, but was having a problem finding time to edit it all down to something he could package. He might still have gigabytes of video that needs editing. Dunno if he still has any plans for a DVD or not anymore.

Great video, it's really nice to break it all down like that in a video format. It's easier to understand than reading a long article on DGR at 2 in the morning

I would have to question the punch throw, however. Most players that I've played with, especially those with hip/knee/arm injuries told me the importance of a good follow through and warned me never to just stop my motion dead in its tracks like that. It puts a lot of load on your joints and will eventually cause injury. I think it would be better to figure out other ways of getting accuracy other than to just punch at a target and stop right there.

he does have a follow thru its just fairly hard to pick up because he spins his whole body after release. i guess ive picked up on it in person and not so much in the video. hopefully im not stepping on his toes. but i think by punching it he means not having a flailing/all over the place follow thru...i guess like mine if you watch some of the acorn park round videos.

I think in most people's lingo, working someone is a bad thing. Talking trash to bring their game down. In your usage, Blake is a Tony Robbins impersonator. Just semantics.

My interpretation, based off my exeperience, is that he's not talking about stopping, but the pull through to the rip. It should be straight at your target from back to front instead of an arc out in front of your chest about a foot. So many people swing around with the disc too far from their chest. When what you want to do is pull the disc on a straight line close to your chest from back to front - right at your target.

Since you're rotating your body to build your power, you should naturally finish and follow through.

The only time you might not have so much follow through would be a short up shot.
