Request that you set the forum to automatically # postings

There are several reasons to number the postings. Probably the most useful reason is to aid in retrieval. For example, in longer threads I sometimes have to leave and return at a later time to finish. If the postings were numbered, I could keep better track of my progress without a whole lot of rereading to find my place.

My solution is to completely read the thread I'm on. If I know I'll have to close up shop early, I just don't start a thread and not finish it.

I just looked on all the board/post settings and I do not see this option choice. Do you happen to know if it's located in a different maintenance area? I would gladly put this in effect for you if it's an option on our system.
I've never heard of post counting before.

Thanks for responding to my request and I am grateful that you are willing to try. Enter http://www.bikeforums.net. Please choose a forum, then a posting (duh). Notice the sequential numbers in the top right corner of each post, on the same line as the date and time.

Well after an hour of searching the web, I've found the answer, unfortunately this is an exclusive feature on the vBulletin forum software and not available in phpbb

You just bookmark the hotlink to the post you last read. Just click the little piece of paper icon to the left of the date of the post. This links you straight to that post and you can then bookmark that and view it later.
