Cheap soft shell jacket

Columbia. Their products are low priced for a reason.

If you're looking for a good softshell and price tag is a major factor, I would suggest checking steep and cheap often until they put up something along the lines of what you're looking for. They have had some great softshells up lately discounted 50% or more. Lots of Marmot the last several days.

Not sure how cheap you want to go, but Target recently had a bunch of softshells on clearance for <20 bucks down from 50ish...They had the same specs pretty much as the BackCountry.com Shift I have.

I would be shocked if you could get anything at a discount store like Target made from Polartec Power Stretch and with comparable quality tailoring and fit & finish as the Shift jacket.

When it comes down to what works best for golfing though, I have a bunch of soft shells, hard shells, and insulated long sleeve shirts, but 90% of the time when it's colder I just end up wearing one of my DriClime windshirts. They go for about $100 at full retail so it should be possible to pick them up on sale prices for well under a bill.

that's a wind shirt, not a softshell, but it looks nice anyway.

yea im just looking for something lightweight and warm.. lets see some options

jacket-wise i'm not really into soft shells, but i can second the recommendation for a driclime windshirt. it's got a super-thin light shell and light but cozy lining. great layering piece. good in drizzle but not full-on rain. it's not a jacket, though, so it doesn't have handwarmer pockets, a hood, or any sort of gathering at the waist. overall a terrific garment.

Still love my Shift. I usually wear something light under it, and a fleece pullover over top and i'm good for anything from just under 30 to the low 50s.
