mini's are used to mark your lie. they used to be mandatory in competitive play but a few years ago they made speed of play revisions to the rules and allowed players to use the disc they threw. if you wish to throw the same disc twice in a row you will have to mark it for a mini.

a disc like the zephyr is an old school finesse disc that some people use for midrange drives and approaches. these often appeal to older players that started in the 80's and then quit for a few years only to restart much later with a new breed of discs.

max legal weight of a competitive disc = 200g.
the max weight is based upon a ratio of the disc diameter. max legal weight for a 21.2cm disc is 175g. max legal weight for a 21.7cm disc is 180g.

some tournaments will have a side contest involving minis; throwing for distance, or even a mini course (so i've heard... that would be a sweet night time festivity).

is it pdga legal to play catch with a mini if you're waiting on a tee pad for a bit? or is hackysack the way to go? or is personal grooming (nail biting, toothbrushing etc..) still the best way to kill time?
