What is a good DG hat in the summer?

What should one look for in a hat? I'd like a hat that protects the head, neck and shoulders from being burned. That means a wide hat but I can't use hats that aren't extremely well ventilated because I sweat a lot and my home course is physically taxing climbing up and down ski jumping hills up to 5 hours at a time plus walking to and from the course. And even without excess fat I'd sweat like a pig a family trait. The hat must also stay in the head during most violent drives. There's little that's as difficult to ignore than something moving around your head possibly blocking vision at the hit.

The reason I ask is I burned my face last weekend in a tourny and I dislike getting a skin cancer. And I burned my face at least once a summer previous years too. Can't use sunblock above my eyes because sweat brings it to my eyes and it hurts. Vizors don't protect enough and baseball caps even with mesh are way too hot and not ventilated enough for my sweatyness. Meshed caps and vizors still expose the top of the head to radiation. I want to avoid that.

I just read of insect repellent hats the first time and thought cool! With that spirit does that hat come with a dose of Tamiflu or a lacing of swine influenza?

Seriously though I'm even considering a traditional Mexican hat for health reasons after reading that I've already doubled my chance of getting melanoma by having burned my skin for five times. More actually. Given that I don't strike out even Mexican hats yet (despite not liking the look). I'd like to know of the brim stiffness because it's not something I'd like to have flapping before my eyes at the hit. Also the moisture wicking is of supreme importance to me because it does not matter how safe the hat is if it makes me have a heat stroke and or dehydrated and sweat making me blind. It isn't gonna be used then. With the obvious brim difficulties spike hyzers might become an issue but that's mild compared to how easily such brim catches air and flies off without under chin band. I'm hesitant to say the least

Having surfed a bit I realized that moisture wicking and ventilation are my main concerns so I'd like to know of experiences with extremely god products in those respects. I'd especially like to know how they fare in hard use because DG on my home course is easily as sweaty for me as running is for many. Without the benefit of oncoming air for me.

A guy I used to play DG with for years in Florida wears a straw hat, nothing like a sombrero, but just a straw hat. I guess it was to keep the sun off of him. He was in his mid 40's and was fair skinned. It seemed to work just fine.

That's... very karaoke. Didn't know that the Vietnamese shared the Japanese will for self humiliation And now it's landed in clothing form for Americans And if you don't mind strangling yourself with the under chin cord spike hyzering to the bottom of the front brim you could make yourself even more hilarious to watch by flying the hat like a kite. Or both in succession. Think I need my throat so I'll pass

I don't doubt the ventilation. Maybe I need to cut the brim smaller. Just get a good fishing hat. It'll cover the tops of your ears and they were actually kinda stylish amongst the college crowd 6 years ago. I've since graduated so I don't know what's in style now.

I have Huk's trucker-style hat and most of the material is mesh so its got good ventilation. The mesh is white though so its difficult to keep clean(my hands are impossible to keep clean on the course I play at for some reason).

Or you could go with some of the suggestions above if you hate the opposite sex.

Visor pros no sweat in the eyes and light. Cons doesn't protect from skin cancer Ears and the top of the head.

The other versions are maybe ok because I haven't heard of guys being picked up by girls while playing DG over here It's the transitions to and fro the course that are gonna hurt with that in mind

A colleague who knows about trekking advised against the hat I linked earlier because there are no water- and windproof materials that are truly breathing. When working out hard. Based on other pieces of clothing with technical materials I have to agree on being skeptic. I'll probably start with a straw hat and attach cord to it and see how well it protects.
