Beware of the inexpensive rain items.
Cheap = Waterproof + doesn't breathe = portable sauna
Like rain jackets, breathable ones are better but not perfect. Depends really on how much you're moving around and how warm it is outside. Are you looking for something for surprise downpours, or to wear all day?

What he said but a no breathing pant with a breathing jacket in cold weather ain't murder. Forget about it during summer.
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

I am thinking something that could be worn all day would be nice... definitely something more than .99 cent style poncho material.

i dont know if they have em these dayy but i bought a matching pair of rain pants/jacket at costco like 4 years ago and they are still holding up quite well, they are a black nylon type material and are vented so they actually breathe fairly well
