Southern Missouri Recommendations?

Well it looks like i'll finally have sometime to sneak in some golf for the 1st time in about a year.

I'll be in the springfield area tomorrow (Monday) and i'm looking to play a great course. I don't really care if i have to travel a little out of my way from springfield to do so.

I'd like to hear some comments

i think from now on i'm sticking to columbia, KC, and the occasional trip to emporia from now on. unless i'm just blown away by some stl courses.

i went to the course that was close to Russ's house (Tom Watkins DG Park)
i played about 6 holes in random order since i couldn't really follow the layout and the tee signs were all faded. then i played some safari holes before making my way back home.


PROS:a great course to learn/practice a variety of lines, open space to see the flight of errant shots (good reference for ams/beginners)

CONS: too WIDE open, grass tee pads which were randomly placed, hard to follow the layout, random mix of beat up baskets

STL has some nice courses. I really enjoy Columbia though.

Next time you go to STL, check out Unger. Mighty fine course, just bring back ups.

i've yet to travel to stl for DG. when i do i will definitely need a few tour guides to get around and show me the local knowledge.

stl. will have to wait until later in the summer. for now my little home course in town, columbia, and KC will have to suffice.

Unger went underwater. Park is closed, course is flooded. It's one of those "duh" moments...it was known that the park floods every spring, so why the course was set so close to the water is beyond me. The lake also has no outlet. Once the water is in there, is the long slow process of evaporation to dry it out. Unger as it was laid out is going to be a no-go.

I'm not sure Tom Watkins should even be called a disc golf course. It's really terrible. Sorry you ended up there.
