This is the only forum I frequent that doesn't do that and I am constantly Xing out the tab and having to hunt down the thread I was lurking.

yeah I just did this with firefox also.

Where do I do that at? I usually use the wheel button but sometimes I forget. I'd love to have FireFox do that automatically.

Open about:config (write it in address bar)and set the following prefs:
* browser.link.open_external set to 3 (should already be)
* browser.link.open_newwindow to 3
* browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction to 0 (zero)
All preferences that begin with browser.tabs.opentabfor which should be set to true (if you've upgraded from Firefox 2.x or 1.x, there should be several instances).
