phiten vs. power balance bracelets

from what i understand, phiten uses magnets and power balances uses "frequencies" - anybody tried both or know anything about this stuff? would it be somehow wrong to wear both?
(i've had a phiten bracelet for over a year - i think it works...)

my real wuestion: are these two products using the same technology to do the same thing?

does the use of one contradict or clash with the simultaneous use of the other?

man, I even believe the whole "we're all energy" thing, but those products really do seem like they're just hype. At the very least, over-priced. I think you'd do much better by learning to properly meditate and do that each day than buying something like that. Just my 2 cents though. I'm a tad jaded when it comes to corporations and this just seems like fleecing.

but the basic science has been around a long time: some magnets and other metals create positive ions and dispel negative ones. it's your choice whether you want to believe in the psychology behind positive ions being better than negative ones.

You know, I'd like to believe, but I really don't want to fork out an arm and a leg for taking the chance. For what they are, they could probably drop the costs to the $5 range and at least then you don't feel like a freakin' idiot if somebody calls you on it.

Those sites just wreak of slick marketing which makes me think it's all hype.

Surely you could find something similar for less money? If you could but it would be ugly, would you still want it? What is it that has your curiosity, the jewelry aspect or what it might do? Just something to think about when it comes to products like that.

If you genuinely believe that those work, then you should also look into carrying around crystals of various sorts. It's a similar principle, and has a wider array of more selectable benefits - should it genuinely work.

That said, we have no way to detect for sure what exactly magnets do or don't do, and often times people have quite a nasty reaction (headaches like WHOA) to continual exposure to magnetic or electromagnetic fields.

Medically, look at it this way:

1. Your blood has a lot of iron, which is easily attracted by magnets. I bet if you wore that bracelet just on one wrist for a while, you could slap yourself with a ruler on both arms and the one you wore your bracelet on would bruise more. It would mean that area has pretty good blood flow, but at the cost of the rest of your body's supply.

2. Magnets distort electrical fields, and your body has one running through it all the time. If you believe in energy in the sense of chi/qi, imagine the disruption that would cause in your internal flow... If you don't, imagine the potential problems of electrical impulses travelling along your nerves being distorted or delayed.

I'm genuinely neutral on this, but have seen people perceive effects of utterly mundane objects and practices easily a hundred more times than I've ever seen something like this that I'd say has some sort of genuine affect on the body.

At the very least, if it's just magnets, you can MAKE yourself a magnetic bracelet for about $3 at the store, so I'm against paying a company a heap of cash to send me one.

If it DOES work, you do nothing for it's acceptance to spout off angry little ranty bits when people question it.
