Storing used dye?

What do you use to store rit that you've already mixed with water? I have a bunch of those 5 and 10 gallon HD plastic painters buckets that I thought about using because the lids are so good, but they would take up way too much space.

I bought 4 Rubber Maid containers at Target, the ones that have the rubber seal, they were the 5 cup ones. Perfect for the amount of water / dye I use. I just add a bit more powder to the black if I have let it sit for awhile to ensure super dark blacks.

We buy 5 quart ice creams, eat the ice cream and then I have a nice, sealable plastic container (with a handle too!) to use for my dye.

Thanks folks. I was just concerned about how tight the lids were. It seems that isn't too big of a deal. I'll pick up some tight sealing rubber-maid stuff.

Tight lids are important if you are rough with your containers. I baby mine so a super tight seal isn't as important.

Yeah I'm not worried about me, but rather the damage to the floors should my toddler grab one.

I'm just using an empty 1 gallon milk jug.

I'd say the integrity of the container is extremely important. I use old peanut butter and jelly jars.

I use Lock and Locks. They're plastic containers with a rubber seal around the lip. And all 4 sides have clamps to lock it down.

I just use disposable gladlock containers. As far as dropping them in the house. For starters, I do all dye work in the garage...the containers never enter the house. Heat it up in an stainless steel electric deep skillet (from goodwill) on a folding table. Solves most of the real "container" issues.

I actually do all my work in the garage or workshop, but both have finished floors that I don't want stained. My little one likes to "help out" a lot so I can just see a flimsy lid and container as an issue.

I use 32 oz V-8 Bottles, but I was wondering the other day how much of the dye soaks into the plastic? It obviously dyes the plastic but how much dye does the plastic soak up over time? I was thinking about maybe trying some kind of glass bottles, maybe like kettle one or smirnoff since they won't absorb the dye. Might just be a little ripped right now and in my own world..
