How far from your disc can you throw your next shot?

I know you can't go past your disc or marker for your 2nd throw, but I can't find anywhere how close to it you are allowed to be. Do you have to throw from the exact spot your disc landed or are you allowed to go back or to the side at all? I ask because I see lots of people going back or to the side a little better in order to get a better angle around/over a tree or whatever, and thought that didn't seem right since we all know that 1 foot in the right direction can drastically improve your lie and available shot selection. What's the rule on this and where in the PDGA rule book can I find it?

803.04.A When the disc is released, a player must:
(1) Have at least one supporting point that is in contact with the playing surface on the line
of play and within 30 centimeters directly behind the marker disc
