XL why was i not told before!

So after all the love for this and the esp cyclone, I'm torn between sticking with my Z Avenger SS, or trying out one of these. What do you guys think?

The XL will be shorter and have a more gradual turnover, depending on the plastic you get it in.

So is an XL more like a mid and a Cyclone a fairway driver?

No, the XL is longer than the Cyclone, The XL and and the ASS are pretty comparable if you take in the differences in speed. The ASS having a sharper and longer wing makes the differences in flight more pronounced. The Xl will be more controllable.

So I picked up an X-XL last weekend(This one might have a bit more Z in it as it is semi-transparent). Played around with it a bit over the past week. Decided to put it in the bag for a tourney this weekend as I needed something that would fly straight and finish straight with little power needed. The XL was the ticket. There was a hole that was 350 feet, slightly uphill, that needed a straight shot and straight finish. Yeah...the XL was so parked that I almost hit my head on the basket picking it up. I was working that thing on shots from 330-350. I might have to get me a Z-XL or ESP XL to go with the X one. The best part was when one of the pro's that was on my card was throwing a teebird and came up short. He walked up and saw my disc and was absolutely disgusted at what I threw

From what I've heard, you'll want the ESP. The Z XLs come out a bit more stable.

If you like the XL you might like a JLS as well. To me JLS have the same distance. A little less glide, but hold a line better.

XL isn't nearly as overstable at low speed as the Eagle. I don't believe it's as high speed stable either.

One of the first discs I owned was an X-XL and it was pretty similar to my DX Cheetah. It might have been a bit less HSS and longer, but it's probably a closer comparison than an Eagle.

Less HSS than a Cheetah? Wouldn't that make it kind of on the fliptastic side?

once they get past beat they are absolutely fliptastic. but up until that point you've got flattened hyzer laser beams. The Z and the FLX XL's are mad stable in comparison to other XLs. More like an Eagle L or a JLS i suppose. Actually the more I think about it an X XL is very similar to an M JLS. I guess if the XL ever goes OoP I could switch to the JLS and not be too upset. The ESP XL is a lot closer to the Star TL though. Both pretty useful if your local course more resembles a logging trail.

the XL in my experience is not as LSS as an ESP Cyclone. Just my experience but your results may vary. The XL does have a ton of glide and will carry further with less effort than a Cyclone. It is also nowhere near as LSS or HSS as an Avenger (again my experience)

Interesting indeed. I feel like the XL would fit my game pretty well.

But I'll probably just stick to Teebirds/Cyclones since thats what I know.

Doing some field throwing yesterday I took my current bag and threw all of my drivers back and forth on the soccer field for an hour. Every third drive with my Z XL I was able to get it out as far as my distance drivers (ESP Surges).

My max D is only about 360ish though, reliably hitting 300-330' but I'm definitely liking the XL's more and more. I carry a Z, ESP and an X to use in different situations.

I am toying with the notion of dropping my avengers out of my bag in favor of the XL. I might keep a Z-Avenger in the bag for the windy days...but I am really liking the XL.

I made the opposite switch, Blurrr...

I like the XL, especially the ESP, as it caters to the Comet lover in me. The problem is it's way more difficult to get to ride a long, low hyzer and it's lack of wind resistance keeps it from being a better fairway driver for me. The ESP Avenger beats in to straight and then to flippy, and has the consistency to be reliable even in the wind.

But the ESP XL is like 1.2 and the ESP Avenger is 1.8.

Won't dis what you decided to do, but the ESP Avenger isn't a replacement for an ESP XL.

The XL is great for wooded courses or shorter tunnel shots beyond the comet's range (due to height). I think, like you've done, you can find other discs worn in that can replace it, but I'm not looking for a minimal bag, so I'm still keeping it in.

oh I use the Stalker for the shots I'd use an XL for, if I absolutely can't hit the line with one of my Avengers...
