Whats up everybody!

I'll cut to the chase, I've been playing a lotta disc golf the last couple months, and along with that have been dying almost all of my discs...

This thread will, once I get some pictures up, follow my various disc dying ventures.

In my most recent news, I got my hands on a Latitude 64 Pure disc, and discovered that it takes dye similarly to the Innova KC Pro plastic... which is to say, very poorly.

Hopefully pics will follow soon, figured I'd drum up some anticipation (yeah, right) and let y'all know about the latitude plastic (Grip line) in terms of dye.

Finally got off my backside and took some (low quality) pictures of my discs.

These are in order from oldest to most recent dyes...
Three are missing, a rising sun monarch, a jaguar Valkyrie, and the batman symbol valk I did for the young lady I'm seeing.

(Further evidence that KC Pro doesn't take dye well, I had this in orange dye long enough that it would have been dark brown had it been star plastic)

I'm looking forward to playing around with more Latitude plastic, I've got an Opto XXX and an Opto Trident.
The stamp on the Pure took some work to get rid of, and it took a while to take the dye, not quite as difficult as KC Pro, but I was shooting for a dark red on the skull

Anyway, enjoy!
(Next step is multiple colors on one disc, as well as working on being more exacting with my cuts)

misjudged the heat (underestimated how well the disc would work as a lid) and the top is a bit wonky now...
we'll see how she flies tomorrow

First up is another pirate/skull themed putter, with a not-so-hot bleed at the top and general lack of crispness throughout.
Latitude 64 Pure Grip line

Meant for it to be green, but the dark green dye ended up blue, and adding yellow to it didn't really change anything

This one I dig a lot, though I don't throw it much... may have to work more on my forehand to get some use out of her

Looking good man! I too have been dying every disc i can get my hands on haha... Are you using vinyl to cut out your designs? I've been using contact paper and its worked wonders! No bleeding or residue afterward, plus its cheap.

Contact paper.

all of the problems I've encountered can be placed at the feet of yours truly, thanks to mistakes I've made in either cutting, heating, or smoothing of contact paper

I honestly think your dye is getting to hot. Seems like you are getting a lot of bleeds. I used to be impatient and have mt dye to hot and I had a lot of bleeds also.

Yeah, I'm workin on it, when I went back and did the PANDA lettering I let the dye cool down enough that it was not steaming at all.

Need to keep up on that, and work on more accurate cuts

Just caught a youtube vid where they said: "If you can't put both hands on the side of the pot, it's too hot." Seemed like there was some other really good advice in there... ah, here y'are.

Im just recently being able to keep my own impatience in control

In other news, I'm almost out of stuff to dye!
Thinkin about the discraft misprint pack for some new toys...
downside is the lack of control over color... oh yeah, and the part where excepting a DGA putter I randomly picked up, all I've ever thrown is Innova and Latitude.
(I assume that their nicer plastic takes dye well, based on innova's nice plastic doing so?)

Finally, when I was doing the PANDA lettering on that monarch, I first tried the 'really gritty paste' method of dyeing, where you basically sludge the dye over where you want... the how-to (from this site, articles section) said that 30-45 minutes should do it, so I waited 50 minutes, and the dye barely took?
Maybe I missed something...

View count keeps rising, so I'm fairly certain I'm not just wasting bandwidth posting these.

Did another Pure last night, came out OK
(the Grip plastic doesn't like dye much, the orange I ended with would have been a dark dark red if I had been dyeing say, star plastic)

(not that it is a big deal, but the website I use to take these pictures mirrors everything... in person, the guns point right)
First time using die cut vinyl from the internet rather than cutting my own design, pretty snazzy in that there are zero bleeds or smudges

At this point I'm down to three discs that need dye for sure...

Ahhh man no more free hand? I have the ut most respect for guys with plotters but a nice clean hand cut dye is still impressive.

Heh, I have no plans to move away from hand cutting...
just tried this out on a whim

Currently about halfway through a multiple layer (hand cut) design of my Rugby Team's logo... hopefully that'll be up in a week or less
