Took my 180g 1st run star mako for a spin this afternoon in very cold, but calm conditions.

Wow! I love this disc! It feels great in the hand (much better than my esp comets), and definitely flies like a longer putter. Very forgiving disc, even if you get the nose up. It has just a touch of fade at the very end, and likes to nestle up right next to the basket, whereas my z buzzz would fade harder and skip a little bit. I can see the mako becoming my main upshot disc, if the range is at all in question with my putter (challenger right now). I liked it on 200-250 ft. woodsy holes off the tee, especially when the finish is just a little bit to the right, or straight ahead. It will definitely stay in the bag, right alongside the z buzzz, q sentinel, and for now the esp comet, because that disc can hit limbs and still glide another 150+ feet.

Lots of people have asked me about this disc on the course. Never threw one. I've heard from locals that it is very similar to the Shark (especially the Star version). Since this was all I had heard, I would tell people that is what I am hearing, which seemed to dissipate some of the excitement about the disc.

I have a Champ Panther, DX Classic Roc, and a Crystal Z Buzzz that pretty much cover everything I need for short-mid upshot territory.

I loved Sharks when I was a newer player (indeed, I even used to putt them), and I have several laying around in several plastics, but I haven't put them in my bag in a long time.

I believe the mako is only in star plastic right now. I might be wrong, there might be CFR stuff out or something, but I believe star is the only available plastic.

I can tell you it is nothing like a shark in rim configuration. Very similar to a Coyote physically. Flightwise, I can't say because I haven't thrown a Mako or a current Shark either.

Today I parked my mako on an open 350ft hole. My furthest throw so far with it. I'd call it lucky, there was a small tailwind. I doubt I'll do that again.

i have a 180g Star Mako, and im actually really liking this disc. Its becoming my favorite upshot disc for distances under 200'. I do not know why people are comparing this disc to a shark, because this disc barely has any of the LSF of the shark. This disc is actually really straight. Innova rates this disc 5 4 0 0, and it flies just as it is rated.....

A lot of folks on this site passed it off as a meteor clone, and felt it flies pretty true stable. If anything, it's closer to a Buzz.

I liked what the buzzz did in the air, but never liked the feel. The mako took care of that. It's so much more friendly to my hand than the Z plastic is. I think the mako is a bit less stable than the buzzz though.
