disc in a tunnel, tube etc?

At our local course there is a old section of concrete drainage pipe laying near the pin on hole #18.
Often a drive will enter one side of the tube and stay inside. If the disc is inside this tube and you cannot reach in far enough to be legally behind your lie can you put from directly behind your lie on the outside of the tube or can you stand directly above your disc on top of the tube?
I figure if you cannot get a leg or arm in the tube to place behind your lie then it is unplayable.
What is the ruling here?

You would probably have to take an unplayable lie in a casual round. If it's less than 5 meters, I think the causal relief to stance could be in effect, so you'd get to move up to 5m behind the disc with no penalty. More than that, it's unplayable.

In a tournament, the TD should announce some sort of ruling on that.

You know... This brings up one of the most interesting ways I lost a cherished disc. I was throwing my new 2005 Tribal Stamped champion Roc back and forth in a field directly east of my house that parallels a road. I threw a nice drive to one length of the field, retreived it, and proceeded to throw a return drive back towards the house. Now there's a lengthy drive way in front of the house that makes a nice "U", with a culvert that runs through the "U" with the road. This culvert is oh... 12" in diameter and about 80-90 ft long.

Sure as shit my return drive with that beautiful lime green #'d tribal stamped champion Roc went RIGHT INTO THE DAMN HOLE. At first I did not panic because I figured "how far in could it have really gone?". Well it went in about 45-50 ft and there it sits to this day, taunting me every time I cross the driveway.

Oh, and to your original question: Unplayable Lie.

attach something to the spring end of it that you can hook onto the disc and fish it out.

Hmmm. Ok I see where you're going with this. Couple issues though, I cannot see the disc so I don't know its orientation in the tube. The tube is also full of other shit which makes it hard to differentiate by feel. Remember we're talking a good 80-90 ft total length here. I gave up on it a while ago but I often thought if I could just get a rope down the length of it I could just dredge it out. Wanted to try an RC car but that required $ and the possibility of getting more crap stuck in there.

I'd take a high powered flash light and see if you can get somewhat of an idea as to where it's at. I'd then try to take a hose and run it down there if it would reach from the house. Turn if on and hopefully with enough pressure you could possibly push it out.

The water's not a bad idea, you could plug the other end so that the water fills up the culvert a bit to free up the disc, then remove the plug. Though probably a bit of a waste of water.

What if you use a 100' snake, run it all the way through and then tie a Golden Retriever to it and drag it back through. (And hope it doesn't get stuck...)

Tying fishing line to the tail of an arrow and trying to fire it down the length of the tube. This failed because the water in the last 20 ft of the tube stopped the arrow dead.
