Tips on removing stamps?

Anyone have any tips on removing stamps on various types of discs? I mainly throw Innova, however I use straight Acetone to take off the stamp and I use a paper towel, I find that it leaves a lot of scuff marks on the disc, I don't rub super hard however some stamps require it, I just took the same off a 2nd Run Champ Blem Katana and it was a sparkle stamp two colors and it was a bitch to get off, now that it's off it's pretty scuffed up, now granted once dyed it's not gonna be noticeable however I do notice it when I grip the disc now that it's just a bit more grippy in that area.

Anyways any tips from anyone on here on how you remove your stamps from various plastic types, Discraft, Innova, Gateway...etc...etc. I'd like to see what people use.

I'm just getting back into dying again after a long absence, can't wait to dip my first one tonight!!

oh and if you're buying a discraft disc to dye, I'd avoid one with a purple stamp. In my experience they have been the hardest to get off and usually leave some smearing of color behind.

I've noticed that using cotton balls and rubbing gently works without scuffing the disc up. The acetone/nail polish remover does all the work, and usually the strength of scrubbing makes not much difference.

Are you using the acetone you can get at a drug store? 'cuz the stuff from the hardware store is WAY more effective...

A. Metallic stamps always come off the easiest.
B. Use copious amounts of Acetone and do minimal scrubbing. I recommend using a cheap eye dropper to apply the acetone directly where you want it.
C. Innova by far has the easiest stamps to remove as they appear to put colored stamps on top of a base chrome/silver stamp
D. Avoid colored stamps from Discraft.
E. Be quick when wiping off color stamps that have been displaced by the acetone. They will sorta dye the disc if you don't get them off quickly.
F. Cotton balls do in fact work great, an old sock will work well too.

Tourney stamps sre usually a lot harder to take off too. As well as the new Discraft Z discs with Black stamps, the dye just wont come out of the edge of the stamp.

Also becareful with White Star and ESP disc's, especialy when removing a red stamp. I turned a Star wraith from white to pink once.

Ya, Discraft's stamps seem to be pressed into the plastic more than Innova's. After removing the stamp from an Innova, there is hardly any trace if it, however not so with Discraft. Difference in stamping technique?

I don't know exactly. I bet if any of us spent about 4 hours with the hotstamping device we could say for sure. I agree that Innova's stamps tend to be the easiest to remove, but no guarantees on tourney stamps. Discraft really burns their stamps in there well, and it bothers me. These grooves can lead to bleeding no matter how careful you are.

No prob Chuck, I couldn't find anything about it anywhere, but I couldn't really search cause it's Broken, so I just figured I'd post, I mean it's not like it makes a huge difference if your dye covers the stamp area...but with the 2nd Run Katana's the stamp was so detailed it was nuts...

I wondering if you let the disc sit face down in the acetone just like dying if it would dissolve into the acetone? Worth a shot...I guess.

Cotton Balls = Brilliant!! Just did a stack full of discs and not one of them looks scuffed at all, using cotton balls is where it's at.

Getting a Black Discraft Stamp off of a Glo Disc = IMPOSSIBLE!!!

I pour acetone on the stamp. A little wasteful, but it takes the stamp off much better, no smearing. I've used cotton balls, face pads, q-tips, shop rags -- just pour on a little acetone and rinse it away, it's easier.

Both acetone and a product called Goof-Off (found in hardware stores) work well, depending on the stamp. Goof-Off often takes off stamps that acetone doesn't.

...and be reeeeaaaalllly careful with the Goof-Off. It will eat discs and other kinds of plastics if you let it.
