Blake, I highly recommend checking out Samurai 7. I do not think you will be disappointed.

samurai 7 was the 3rd anime series i bought after i got back into anime a couple of years ago (drought from 1998-2008). i thought it was good but my familiarity with the seven samurai movie i think hurt its entertainment value for me. i found it hard not to nitpick characters or events that i felt didn't need to be there but i know that was my fault. i felt the same way about gankutsuou. oddly enough i was able to separate kaze no yojimbo into its own entity.

thanks for the recommendation though. i always appreciate input.

Yeah, I can see that. In terms of "anime quality" though it was marvelous. I was visually impressed.

yah. visually it's very impressive, had a solid dub, etc.

i can fully admit that having the seven samurai as one of my favorite movies of all time drastically affected my enjoyment of the anime... when the movie pulls in at like 3 hours 45 minutes and the series pulled in at like 8 hours 45 minutes (of actual story) i wasn't sure they needed to create a female romantic interest, inject them into the early part of the story and then dedicate like a 3 hour story arc to it. i also felt the most powerful scene in the movie is when they rescue that guy's wife from the bandits only to have her walk back into the fire to commit suicide. they avoided that scene in the series.

overall i thought it was good and if i didn't have previous subject material that i knew it was based off of it probably would have sat better with me.

Hell Girl and Speed Grapher are no longer available.

prices include shipping.

Now Selling:
FLCL (Fooly Cooly) - 3 DVD Box set, 6 episodes. Out of Print. $78. if that seems high, here's the used amazon.com prices on it (currently $150 cheapest used).
http://www.amazon.com/FLCL-Fooly-Cooly- ... 356&sr=8-8

Trigun - Remix Collection (5.1 audio and original opening animations), Volumes 1-6, 26 episodes. out of print. $53. Volumes 2-6 are brand new/unopened. Vol 1 might be unopened as well but I can't remember (will check on it tomorrow).

L/R (Licensed by Royalty) - 4 DVD Box set, 13 episodes. Out of print. $23.

Innocent Venus - 3 DVD box set, 12 episodes. Out of print. $21.

Will combine shipping if you want multiple items and knock a couple of bucks off the price.

Good lord why would you get rid of your FLCL boxset? That series is amazing.

I'm an occasional anime watcher, and remember seeing a couple episodes of FLCL on Adult Swim when I was in grad school. Very odd (to say the least), but quite imaginative.

i'm needing the money right now more than having an anime series that's worth a lot of money. I enjoyed it, but haven't craved watching it since the first time I saw it.

FLCL, L/R, and Innocent Venus have been claimed.

Updated for sale list (prices include shipping):
Trigun - Remix Collection (5.1 audio and original opening animations), Volumes 1-6, 26 episodes. out of print. $53. All volumes are brand new/unopened.
Banner of the Stars I and II. BotS Volumes 1-3, 13 episodes, BotS II Volumes 1-3, 10 episodes. out of print. $28.
Hoop Days. 5 DVD Box set, 26 episodes. out of print. $26

i can supply pictures upon request.

Watch the whole series Timko, then rewatch it and try to see it in terms of a boy coming of age. It's a brilliant anime and sadly some of the humor/context is lost in translation due to japanese subculture (i.e. bloody nose = you're being perverted).
