Put Katana back in...I tried to replace it with the Pro Boss...but that disc just couldn't do what the Katana does.

What did the pro boss lack for you? I put a champ katana back in after messing with a beat pro boss and what got me to put the katana back in was the difference in lss, even my beat pro boss would hyzer out and skip more than the katana for me.

I'll probably be messing around with some more Opto Halos and have a more or less stable on in my bag, but honestly the one I have can do it all pretty damn well. I just realized that this is by far my most minimalistic setup to date. 6 primary molds + 1 utility disc (XXX).

After 3 rounds sans Buzzz...Its just not disc golf without the Buzzz in my bag. The Aftershock is a nice overstable midrange, but I don't have to experiment to KNOW it will never fly straight like my Buzzz.

Aftershock is no longer being carried around. I just barely use it with my Buzzz in the bag. Its been relegated to the car, so if it gets real windy at a particular course I could still break it out. I just can't justify carrying a disc around that I use once every 300 shots or so.

That is why my windy weather bag is slightly different to calm weather bag. I only carry a few discs though. I could carry everything if my back wouldn't ache from the heavy rucksack/bench combo and discs. I mostly play with 6-8 discs in the bag. I modify selection based on weather report. That's thus far. P and S PDs may change that along with the slew of Roc variants I auditioned. Star Rancho helps in the wind RW-Pro ain't bad either. Progress hopefully I can't really tell until the snow melts but I think things are getting better for me. Rhyno and Spike for different drives and putting with the Spike except in nasty winds.

Today there were a couple of times where I missed my Aftershock...I think I'm gonna keep the Z one around for a bit because its a really nice disc and makes some things easier. I don't know how I'm going to smooth it over with my Buzzz though...its like talking your wife into polygamy. Live the principle baby! (for those of you who watch Big Love)

After a couple of dozen rounds without touching the Aftershock, and one really windy day where it flipped like an SOB, I have no real reason to keep carrying it around. My short affair with the overstable mid is over once again. I return to my previous philosophy that they are useless. I added the Ion and Nuke as I'm giving them some extended testing.

I'd second that. Try to hunt down some Z Drones if there's still some available. D Drones aren't too bad either. I've never thrown the FLX, but I suspect since they lack any dome, that they have even lsee glide than what the D Drone doesn't have in the first place. I could be completely wrong on this though.

I would assume he uses the XXX where people would throw a Drone. An Aftershock is more of a throw hard, straight than fade disc. The Drone is a throw hard, fade, then fade disc. There are some straigher Z runs, but why look for a particular run when there's a mold that flies the way you want to?

I've heard the Aftershock being compared to KC Rocs which is very respectable since that is my fave mid when cold weather doesn't make it too slippy for me. I've never heard distance comparisons of aftershocks vs KC Rocs. Which flies farther and how much? Where do Squalls fit in the picture if we take the straighter Squalls as a comparison? Longer than Aftershocks and KCs with less HSS and LSS I gather from hearsay? That D would seriously overlap Stalker probably with less HSS? I've considered each of these discs for test except the Aftershock bu I may need to add that to the list. Thanks for comments and sorry for the derail.

Aftershocks are faster and can be longer than a kc roc.

Damn, I thought posting my bag was kind of like casting a stone into the ocean...I never expect much feedback, let alone a multiple post discussion!

Anyway, the only thing I wanted from the Aftershock was slightly more overstable Buzzz-type behavior. When the wind really gets going, all stable to slightly overstable mids fly the same. Rocs, Aftershocks, _________, etc all flip and go straight. I played on a really windy day and my Aftershocks flew exactly like my Buzzzes did on the same day when I gave them a bit more hyzer. So basically, I can put hyzer on my Buzzz and always make it fly as stable as any other straightish mid without having any other ones in my bag. I always come back to this...why do I need to learn it again and again? Bottom line is, all stable mids overlap with the Buzzz, and I don't need them.

Drone and other overstable mids make no sense to me. Why would I want a mid to fly overstable when it can NEVER do it as well as a more aerodynamic driver? Plus, whether or not they flip, the wind always fucks with a blunt disc more than a thinner profiled one. Timko was right, XXX all the way for mid distance in heavy winds.
