Vector Magic

Any of you guys use Vector Magic? I just picked up the PC Desktop version and excited for what it can do!

The online version is cost effect as well....but limited in what it can do.

Illustrator and Freehand both do this. The function is called auto-trace.
Inkscape (the freely downloadable vector program) has it also- it is called potrace I think. Here is the link.

I know in Illustrator and Freehand there are a zillion little tweaks you can use to fine tune the final result.

It's really evolved in the last few years. I've used it a couple of times, but I use Illustrator for pretty much everything I do. It's definitely a good resource for those that don't have access to AI, Corel or FH.

i've only used Flexi-Sign Pro7
it does alot, but i've never compared it with any others...

i will say that i haven't seen a real good "trace" feature befor, they work for simple colors, but shading really screws with clean lines

Vector Magic. I remember when it was first online as a college research project I believe.

I use gimp to adjust bitmap's threshold and then use the trace function in inkscape. gotta love open source software!
