Eat a good meal early in the day and plan for a good lunch. Throw some snacks into your bag. Bring along extra clothes, especially socks and shoes in case it gets wet. Nice to start the second round dry. Read through the published rules if you've not done so before. Be the disc.

There is a dress code found in the competition manual. But as long as you wear a shirt and shoes, you're good.

3.4. Dress Code
A. All competitors and staff are required to wear a shirt.
B. All competitors and staff are required to wear shoes or
other foot coverings. Players will not be allowed to play in
bare feet. Sandals or slides are allowed.
C. The following dress code for all competitors will be
enforced at all PDGA National Tour and Major Events. The
PDGA also recommends that this dress code be enforced
at Super Tour and lower tier events, but this decision lies
solely with the Tournament Director:
(1) All players in PDGA sanctioned competition and
tournament staff are expected to dress appropriately
and to maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance
at all event sites and associated functions.
(2) All players must wear a shirt covering their upper
chest area. A well-tailored shirt with a fold-down,
mock turtle, v-neck, crew neck, Henley, or zippered
collar, and with sleeves covering the part of the arm
from the shoulder to the elbow (commonly known as
the upper arm), shall be considered acceptable.
Women are also allowed to wear sleeveless shirts as
designated above.
(3) No tee shirts will be allowed, except for competitors in
the Junior and Amateur divisions during preliminary
rounds only. Juniors and Amateurs shall not wear tee
shirts during semifinal or final rounds. Crew neck or
V-neck shirts made of high-performance or high-tech
materials, such as Dry-Fit, Cool-Max, and others will
be allowed.
(4) Shirts that hang down lower than the bottom hemline
on the player’s shorts shall be tucked in.
(5) No ripped shirts, shorts, pants will be allowed on the
course. This includes unhemmed, torn or cut “vents”
at the shirt collar.

Quick question about putting. This may be kind of confusing. From what I understand, you can't step past your mark until your disc comes to rest. Inside 30 feet I usually pick up my left foot and keep my balance with my left foot extended behind me and once my disc comes to rest fall forward and catch the "lunge" with that left foot usually slightly to the left of my mark but sometimes break the plane. During league last week one of the guys on my card didn't exactly call me out on it but told me to just be very careful with that kind of stuff because it is legit but some people will call you on it just for the possibility of you getting a penalty shot. The main part is I ALWAYS wait for my disc to come to rest until my left foot comes back down.

When the disc comes to rest has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you can step past your lie.

Inside of 30 feet, you absolutely cannot step past your lie, until you "display balance" which is having both feet on the ground, behind your lie.

Outside of 30 feet you can step past your lie all you want, as long as the disc is released with all supporting points behind the lie at release.

Gotcha. I think I'll just straddle putt everything inside 30 feet although I'm not 100% comfortable with it yet.

It's good to know the rules, but if you're playing rec, I wouldn't expect many people to call you on a stance violation unless it was really bad. Of course, I've only played in one event as well, although I have caddied a couple times. In the lower divisions things seem a little bit more relaxed, but I would still try your best to follow the rules to the best of your abiltiy.

The rules also don't say that you have to demonstrate balance, by having both feet on the ground. The rules clearly only say that you must maintain balance. There are starting to be whispers and such that this will be changing, and there was a rules exception granted for the USDGC, but there is no official ruling coming from anyone requiring that. You still only have to display balance.

C. Any throw from within 10 meters or less, as measured from the rear of the marker disc
to the base of the hole, is considered a putt. A follow-through after a putt that causes the
thrower to make any supporting point contact closer to the hole than the rear edge of the
marker disc constitutes a falling putt and is considered a stance violation . The player must demonstrate full
control of balance before advancing toward the hole.

Considering most human beings have two supporting points, called feet, and any movment you take after your putt is considered following through, this clearly means that you have to have both feet in contact with the ground behind your marker before you can walk past it.
