Looks good man. No visible major errors or screw ups. Which is always a great start!
It could be darker tho. Tell us how you'd doing the dye and maybe we can help ya with that. Tell us how long you're letting it sit for, the temperature setting.. All that jazz.

after watching a video or two and then looking at some of your tutorial, I heated my dye up to where it was just about hot enough to not touch the pot. turned it to low and set the disc in. I kept the heat on for 10 out of the 30 min soak. maybe it is just a rit to water ratio that is off? I used one package and 40oz of water... any pointers??

Well it sounds like you got the heat right. And that should be more than enough Rit for it to dye really well. Personally I keep the heat on for the entire dye. Maybe it's just the quality of the pictures. As long as it looks like a BOLD solid black color to you in person then that's all you need. But great first tries.

I like them both, but the curves and patience required for that second one...kudos. It could very well be the pictures AciDBatH, they look grainy like they were taken with a webcam or phone camera...both of which have crap ISO settings when taking pictures in low incandescent light. Sweet looking dyes though.

The color is actually purple. So it isn't that far off.

Not to speak for you Mike, but the first one was cut and then transfered (pain) and the second was cut on the disc.

Also, you should post the loser disc. If you don't by noon, I will.

the model is rather fitting

constipated or sad?

I think that acidbath was talking about the second dye when it come to dark and light...The picture doesn't do justice for actual disc. It is a little bit darker but i was hoping for it to turn out much darker like the orange disc did. I understand that the color is gonna look a lot darker on a colored disc but oh well im satisfied.

Before this flames up.

We tied in the second round and he beat me in a playoff hole. Meaning I had a 1 stroke win on the day.

That loser one is the best, and the webcam pic is classic

Anyways, a package of RIT to 40 oz of water should be ok... try reducing your water to 1/2 and mix it really well. More concentrated = less time in the pan, win-win in my book. Find an old wide-mouth jar to save the dye for your next dabble.

huge ass pickle jars work the best. 1. u get a big jar of pickles 2. you get a thick glass container (watch out for the lid, the one that holds mine and wdb4th purple dye is leaky)

also pointdisc, didn't happen to be wearing a point special shirt at the tourney did you? i saw a guy there wearing one...
