I've never seen one of these things in my life. And I've ran into 2 of them in the last few weeks, including tonight.
2 things I've learned on my own about them through my brief encounters...
- Creepy as fuck.
- Fast as fuck.
Dead serious, these things have two speeds; completely still - or - 63.7 miles per fucking hour.
Most people don't know this, but one actually beat Usain Bolt by .02 seconds in the 100 meter event of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Did a little Google action on them(seeing as I wasn't planning on going back to sleep after seeing it retreat under my fucking bed
). Turns out they are ferocious, carnivorous, predators of the night. They eat all the shit I should actually be scared of(bed bugs, silverfish, roaches, etc). They kill their prey by running them down, ensnaring them in their long, numerous legs, and injecting them with venom And after seeing one do a wind-sprint across my floor, I imagine they don't go hungry very often.*Shudders*
Now that I've been educated on them, I think they are kind of cool. Maybe I should stop being such a pussy but - damn they creep me out.
